Madeleine Pelzel
Madeleine designs places that help people lead fulfilling lives. Her background in architecture and community organizing informs her work–guiding communities to grow in thoughtful ways. Madeleine’s work prioritizes intuitive transportation design, place-based community planning, and robust public involvement.
At her work’s core is the belief that livable communities start with equitable and reliable transportation options. Her experience spans multimodal networks, parks and trail masterplans, system-wide reimaginings, corridor alternatives analyses, transit governance and service plans. Discussing tradeoffs with community members is a core part of why Madeleine loves being a planner. Madeleine frequently navigates complex political climates to bring projects to fruition. Every place has a story. And by engaging deeply in the communities in which she works, Madeleine ensures every story can be heard.
Madeleine created the BikeSafe! Mapping Methodology, as seen in the Houston Bike Guide, and is a member of the BikeHouston Board of Directors.
